There are still some Hilton (and other Hilton-owned brands) that have smoking rooms. HGI, for example; may have a whopping 4 smoking rooms, usually on the top floor. It seems new hotels/conversions are smoke-free. In some cases, it is not a chain issue, but a city issue. Boston hotels, by law, are smoke free.

I have had to deal with rooms that are smoky, and usually a call to the front desk takes care of it. Only once, in the mid-west, did the desk agent try to challenge the claim, being at a non-smoking hotel, that it wasn't possible. Her manager saw differently.
