I think it depends on how much you value your dollar. My dad shells out for real premium economy and believes it's worth it. He likes that the seats are slightly larger, and on a long haul he says they are more comfortable, well that and the service is much better.

Personally, I'll pay for Delta's EC or United Y+, but I'm too cheap to shell out for a premium economy ticket for personal travel unless it's on sale.
