Sometimes you have to take negative reviews with a grain of salt; my favourite is complaints about sand in the room for a beachfront villa.

Heron Island is by far the best for kids and cheapest. Very special place, but you have to make up your own mind whether it suits you. That gets knocked in the reviews for having -- you guessed it -- too many herons.
