NH World

I've been looking for a secondary program for me to have when there's no Club Carlson hotel, or it's too expensive. I thought I'd give NH a try because my travel's primarily in Europe and the top-tier level has good benefits. There's also a lot of NH's in Germany, and specifically, I'm staying somewhere where there's only an NH for the next month.

I sent an e-mail asking if they status match, and sent a copy of my club carlson and accor statements.

Their reply:
Dear berlinflyer:

First and foremost, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the trust you have placed in our chain NH Hoteles and for having contacted our NH World Department.

Regarding your request, we have to inform you that the calculation of credits earned to modify your account to a superior status will be carried out over the number of Credits earned during a period of 12 months, independently of the number of credits redeemed during this time.

The review of the card will be carried out once 12 calendar months have elapsed since the previous review. This review will be done on the 31st of December 2012.
So they didn't answer my question. I asked them to confirm they don't status match, and that this was indeed the case in the program, I would need to wait to get status until the end of the year, even if I stayed the next 30 days in their hotel (getting 90 credits roughly).

Their reply:
Good morning berlinflyer:

We would like to confirm you that in the NH World program there are different categories, depending of the Credits accumulated during a calendar year:

¨ NH World Attraction (accrual of 36 to 89 Credits in one year)
¨ NH World Fascination (accrual of more than 90 Credits in one year)
Again, they don't seem to really read e-mail or understand the concept of a status match.

They also don't understand what "free wifi" means, because they advertise the crap out of free wifi in the lobby and room, and then you can click and see participating hotels, nearly every one of them has a * and says "lobby only" in tiny print at the bottom.

But it doesn't matter, I've only been in this NH hotel for 2 days and I'm checking out this evening. WiFi costs 30 euro/day, and an entire hockey team was staying on my floor (everyone but me was on the team)...so I haven't slept basically in two days. I think the youth hostel in town looks more relaxing.

<end rant>
