Pretty appalling if you ask me.
I had the pleasure of flying on the refurbished SH 767 again yesterday.
- Reading lights did not work in 1D or 1F. Fantastic. Made reading pretty much impossible after 3.30pm with very little light coming in.
- My headrest was broken. Only attached on one side which rendered it useless.
- My 21" Samsonite Spinner which fits without issue in tiny Embraers did not fit in the overhead locker mid sections. Window sides full.
While I appreciate and understand this refurbishment is more of a stop gap measure to keep the planes flying until the 787 arrive, one cannot approve of this.
While we are on this subject:
Last month returning from JFK in New F seated in 1K another cabin in good nick. Or not. The left wardrobe door was broken, with the lower metal mounting holding the door in place loose.
As take off roll began, the door flew open and stuff inside (such as my cabin bag with a D3, Laptop) and other pax belongings looked prime for an ejection and ride in the air or cabin. 1K could not care less so I reached with my left hand before the acceleration was too hard or climb had started. My left hand rested on the door for about 10 minutes, until climb stabilized.
Truly a First class experience. And those short JFK-LHR flights tend to be very bumpy also due to the tail wind.
I did send in a letter via the online form, but was fobbed off with a standard cut and paste about how serious BA are about the state of the cabin and
CLEANING.
