If you want to relax then go to Kauai. You really cannot beat it for relaxation. As much as I loved Maui (we stayed there our first week), I much preferred Kauai (we stayed there our second week). Kauai largely depends on the time of the year you plan to go... I would recommend going during the dry season (it rains a lot there, but we go no rain in early June) and staying in Princeville on the north side of the island. We literally did not want to come back, but unfortunately the cost of living is 600% more than it is where we live on the mainland. When I asked our butler at the St. Regis about a nice place to dine and told him we did not have extremely nice clothes, he responded, "Don't worry about your clothes... the question about "nice" on Kauai is: 'Should I wear shoes or no shoes?'" The laid-back attitude there is by far the most relaxing place I've ever been...
