I assume you are aware that BA charges taxes and a fuel surcharge when booking reward flights using BA Avios. It also adds a fuel surcharge for many of its partners including Iberia, even when those partners don't have fuel surcharges!
However, when booking a flight on Iberia using Iberia Plus Avios, there is no fuel surcharge added by Iberia. Therefore, when booking "free" flights on Iberia, its always best to book using Iberia Plus avios. (if you happen to have the required miles in your BAEC account, this means you should "combine my avios" and move them to IB+ to make a redemption on IB)
