How much data did you use when roaming?
On the past several trips you have taken with international data roaming charges in effect:
1) How much data did you use, over what period of time?
ex: about ____ mb of data per day
or _____ mb of data over a 7 day trip
2) What did you do online to use that data
ex: Google maps and some email
or
ex: Downloaded The Third Man because I was in Vienna
I'm interested in your answers to those 2 questions because I'm trying to estimate how much data I'll use primarily via my Galaxy Note 2 (arrived Friday from AT&T) when navigating around 5 cities (Europe and UK) over 15 days.
Google Maps looks and works beautifully on that device. It shows the POIs I've saved to "My Places" in maps.google.com in each city. It flips to street view so I can recognize landmarks and "navigate by the force" vs memorizing directions or needing to repeatedly look at directions. It addresses the problems I wrote about here when I realized relying on my iPhone 5 maps would get us completely lost. So far the Android learning curve has been painless (I've used iOS-only since the iPhone 3GS).
Since there's so many questions on this topic in this forum, others might be interested in this info as well
3) Phone brand, model
4) MiFi device used, if any
ex: rented a mifi device from TEPwireless
5) Did you use your home carrier's international plan or did you get a special SIM from a provider?
ex: T-Mobile's new intl plan, or one of iPhoneTrip.com's plans
6) How much did you end out paying for roaming data charges and/or the SIM plan total?
