I read on ua.com, I've searched FT, and googled.... I have a large item to possibly check. I'm wondering if they are more lenient with the oversized fee if you are in FC?

It is very light (14 lbs) but measures roughly 38x38x3 (it is wall art that we have packaged in cardboard). It also seems just over the regular size for the P.O. so I am considering options...

Thanks ^
Wall art in cardboard? Have you seen how badly baggage handlers treat luggage planeside even though they know passengers can observe them?

I'd put a wooden crate around any wall art valuable enough to take with me. You should protect it assuming that an overweight suitcase will be thrown violently against it, at the weakest point in the middle of the broad side, with a sharp pointy protrusion impacting first. And get appropriate insurance.
