i see a couple of issues in play here...
1) OP was wrong, needed to wait at the scanner, realize it or not...it's a lesson learned and hopefully won't happen to him/her again. an alternative approach would have been to go to a neighboring gate that does have a GA and ask him/her to scan the BP or page the GA who is supposed to be there for assistance.

2) the larger issue to me is that the predominant attitude of GAs and FAs across all pmUA/pmCO hubs has, in general, changed in the last 6-12 months to one of general unpleasantness. i guess this can only have to do with the working conditions, the lowered benefits and the overall stress imparted by the traveling public but IMO it has to stop. we don't like flying, they don't like helping us, we all get it. but can't we just *try* to get along for those brief periods of time that we need to interact either in a semi-sterile TSA ridden environment (a la GAs) or a metal tube hurdling through the atmosphere at 2/3 the speed of sound (a la FAs)?
