Note from THE HINDU that BA increasing flights to MAA 6 times a week in the future.My take is,that it is to accomodate the loss of 9W flight from MAA-BRU and its connections.
Having travelled to MAA for 30years from NA,BA was the first i started with,then to LH, got "tired" of LH made a transition to 9W,and now trying other airlines with the caveat that it has to be a one stop from NA toMAA.
I am going to try AI[ORD-DEL-MAA]this winter with apprehension, in BUISNESS,due to the mostly negative experience ,in the past [connection via BOMBAY].
I gather the new Delhi terminal transfers are better although posts here say the LOUNGE is Iffy.
did ETIHAD once from ORD.nothing spectacular,would rate it worse than9W[of the PAST]9W planes are showing their age and cutbacks in service is not acceptable.
My take on Middle East carriers is when things go smoothly[planes on time/no weather mishaps]every thing goes well.BUT when there is a problem ,unlike BA and LH and even AF their support is Absolutely horrendous.
