Keaauflyer, your going from HA to AA. Question, are those flights on the same ticket? If you purchased seperate tickets on each airline for each flight, I am pretty sure that you will have to retrieve your bags from HA and check them with AA.
It's all on one AAward ticket, and I'm not checking bags anyway. BTW, you are quite correct about HA's unfortunate new interline policy. Thanks for pointing this out because you may help others who read this avoid some last-minute hassles.
