If there were hourly service, I might take a shot at this and catch the later flight. But, on TPAC, any reroute will have lengthy delays, put you in a likely lousy seat and cause general discomfort.

45 minute rule may be what it is, but you are incorrect as far as it being below the MCT. MCT for DL-DL Domestic to International at LAX is 35 minute with a few minor exceptions.
