Recently had another short stay here. Some thoughts to share:
- Booked airport inbound transfer with the property, but this time was not greeted upon arrival, nor was there a bellman to even open the door. Walked to the elevators, up to the club and checked in there. Previously, I've been checked in at my room as well as greeted upon arrival with each stay. Not a positive development.
- Found the Grand Club evening canapés to be quite plentiful and delicious as usual. They really go over the top with the selection, although it seems to be a bit smaller in overall variety than I previously remember over the past 18 months.
- Due to my flight arrangements, I generally depart this property at about 5am en route to BKK for a flight out. Previously, they had comp'ed my "breakfast" which I'd had at 2-4am as the Diamond Breakfast, no matter what I ordered. During this stay, they refused as such and I was asked to pay for my room service as a "late night meal". As such, evidently I missed my comp'ed Diamond Breakfast. I was unhappy with this given past treatment, but didn't have the time to press it with a manager at 5am. Also not a good development.
- This stay I was in an older (not yet remodeled) room on the 16th floor. Having been in a remodeled room recently, I can say they are a definite step up and I'll be requesting one for my next stay.
- Finally, just a nit pick here, but the wait time for elevators in this property is borderline ridiculous during peak times. With only 4 of them to serve all floors, I had to wait a good 5-10 minutes each time going up or down during the 4-8pm timeframe. Not sure how this could be rectified, as they seem fast enough, but the property was designed, IMHO, with too few. Hotels like this should have 6-8.
Needless to say, despite all of this, I will be returning. But I hope the property listens to feedback and will do what they can to improve service, minus the elevator issue.
