I'm in the middle of a RTW trip using one way FF tix on OW and *A. One leg I was hoping to do was Denpasar, Indonesia to somewhere in Australia, most likely Cairns. I called AA today to get an idea of availability for Sep 2013 and Cathay is the only partner servicing the route DPS > HKG > CNS. There was no availability from mid-Sep through some time in Oct. Just for kicks I asked the agent to check for July and there was nothing for the entire month.

Is there a particularly ideal time to look for Cathay awards? Am I too early or too late for mid-Sep?
