Megabus is owned by Stagecoach Group, one of the largest UK transport groups with a generally good reputation. Greyhound is now owned by FirstGroup, the other of the largest UK transport groups with a slightly less good reputation (though no problems with safety).
Both organisations have extensive bus and rail operations in the UK and elsewhere. Virgin Trains, generally having a good reputation these days, is 49% owned by Stagecoach Group.
Neither is a fly-by-night cost-cutter.
I wouldn't worry.
