The flight was a codeshare, operated by SQ.
Imagine my surprise when I receive NO points for this segment. Aeroplan tells me that it converted to the equivalent SQ class, which is "N", which accrues 0%. First, I'm not sure how that is equivalent, and Second - there was no way for me to know about this at the time of booking. And Third, and most important - I'm out the miles that I paid for and earned!!
Aeroplan has washed their hands - saying it is an AC/SQ thing. AC has washed their hands, saying it a travel agent thing. And the travel agent points fingers back to AC, saying they have no way to know if the AC fare is going to be eligible for accrual on the operating airline.
The sweet Aeroplan agent worked hard to get it resolved, but to no avail and to her frustration (and mine). She hadn't heard of this before.
Can anyone help shed some light on how to get this resolved! I need these points - I'm borderline for the 50k elite!
Thanks,
I feel your pain. The same thing has happened to me more than once. It especially sucks when you need the points to cross a threshold. After getting burned like this on LH and SQ, my TA has gotten some education, as have I. I really dislike codeshares and not only for this reason. I'm done with the SQ code shares, plugging my nose and taking the UA codeshare on the next trip to SIN in a couple of weeks. I really don't enjoy flying in their beaters, eating their crap food, but at least it's a pretty short run from HKG to SIN. You can complain to AP (which will achieve nothing, except possibly they will forward your complaints to AC) and you can complain to directly AC, letting them know what you think of their lack of transparency (again, which will probably achieve nothing), but at the end of the day, there is nothing you can do about this. Complaining probably won't accomplish any more than pounding sand. They just don't care. If you're really desparate for the points, consider an MR.
