Hi all,

I am a US permanent resident and I am trying to check in a flight from the US to Germany. The online check in asks me for the "Resident Card Document Number". Neither Lufthansa in the US nor Lufthansa in Germany have been able to tell me which number they mean.

It's supposed to be a 10-digit number. The A# number is only 9 digits long (if you add the 'A' it's 10. The document number which is normally used for E-Verify would be on the back of the card and has 3 letters + 10 numbers. So I could leave the letters away.

Does anybody know what's the right number?
