Just a bit of information for existing cardholders.

I've been a CIBC Aventura World MasterCard for a year and a half now (with a supplementary card for my wife), so I called to see whether they would rebate half our annual fees based on the new promotion.

The CSR who took my call was really friendly and understanding, but wholeheartedly would not give in to my request stating that he just couldn't do it. I asked to escalate the call to a supervisor. After 3-5mins of being on hold, the CSR (not the supervisor) came on the line saying they would make an exception for me and credit back 50% of my annual fee and 50% of the supplementary annual fee ($85 total).

So it is worth being friendly and courteous, but push the issue past the front level guys who haven't been given any control to make exceptions on their own.
