Question Please BA differentiate between “Interlining” and “Codesharing”

I have been trying to get an answer from BA customer service regarding an up and coming itinerary with regards to interlining but they do not seem to understand or want to differentiate between “Interlining” and “Codesharing”.

My travel agent has booked me an itinerary from EDI (Edinburgh) to GRU (Sao Paulo) connecting through London Heathrow.

My E-ticket, only one ticket not two separate tickets, states that it is from EDI to GRU. The first leg is with British Airways and the second leg with TAM Airlines. I know that TAM is not a Oneworld partner but my travel agent is adamant that there is an “interline ticketing and baggage agreement” between them, so although the connection time is short it would be ok for direct connection but not for landside transfer.

British Airways customer service staff has told me on three separate occasions that my luggage will not be tagged through to destination but will have to be picked up and checked in again at Heathrow. However, a fourth customer service rep did suggest asking at the departure airport if they would tag my bags through to destination. I live so far away from EDI that I just can’t go and ask and I can’t find any way to contact them. Everything seems to go through customer service call centres.

Can anyone advise me or at least give me the Edinburgh BA Sales desk direct telephone number.
