I usually plop my earphones in a try to avoid much more than a "hello". But I ended up sitting next the Bill Nye (the Science Guy) a few years ago on an F transcon and we chatted most of the flight. We covered a wide range of topics, but mostly the effort to keep women interested in science (I have two little girls and we had a mutual acquaintance in Sally Ride and her program.)
