I didn't see this as a topic. The question refers to generally compensation given via www.united.com/appreciate

Due to the UA832 Debacle (see earlier post), I now have about $2000 of E- certificates and I have a lot of questions:

1) Are these considered gift certificates when using them via united.com? There are no Pin numbers so this is why I assume they are gift certificates.

2) Can I use them to purchase travel for anyone or only the person the compensation was for? I'm thinking of pooling them to buy one expensive ticket rather than many cheaper ones.

3) Can they be used for international travel? The instructions were not clear.

4) Can you somehow deposit these into your account rather than only redeeming then when make a purchase?
