I am pretty sure some designers are studying on how to get a (slanted) lie flat seat in Y or Y+. The first airline to introduce such a feature would make a huge change in the market. I fly TATL only on airlines with flat beds; having the option (and living in the US; which I do not) I might take the same stance on transcon flights, especially before or after an ocean crossing.
