Seat selection woes: Travelling together, but separate bookings
My partner and I are travelling on separate bookings to the US next month -- different arrangements outbound but travelling back on the same flight. I'm Silver and he's Bronze, so I selected a seat in WTP and he paid a fee to book the one next to it. Now BA has bounced my seat choice and I'm on the other side of the cabin; he still has his old seat but there's someone next to him, and there are no other good seat choices in the cabin. Any recourse here? I called BA and they were very rude about it. I know they can technically do this per their seating policy, but is there any way to avoid this annoying situation going forward? I just wish they would kindly open up the exit row for us, which is "blocked" but vacant. I would even pay the fee for it.
