After first quoting me a price 4x higher than what ITA shows for the exact same trip, she also told me that they cannot book the fare class I was looking for.

Does this make sense? Doesn't to me. Anyone have experience booking these fares over the phone?
This appears to be yet another example of the "new" level of competence at the EXP desk. Call back (and keep calling back) until you get one of the older agents who knows what the heck he or she is doing! As has been mentioned before, there are a LOT of new EXP agents manning the desk and their level of training and competence just isn't up to the standard we've all come to expect!
