And no, this is Canada - there is no additional scrutiny for anything. My sister's husband is from Venezuala and he moved to Canada without even a criminal record check! The mom was supposed to have an interview, but the embassy thought it was too dangerous because of the election, so it was cancelled and they just mailed her, her visa. It's embarrassing how cavalier this country is about security. Reminds me of those border guards in B.C. who ran into their safe room because a criminal from Washington was heading towards the border
The only concern we had, is we thought we'd request a wheelchair for her just so someone from AC could take her where she needs to go, but then we thought customs might deny her entry if she was in a wheelchair, so she'll just walk and follow the crowd.
They did that for a person that moved here from Lebanon too.
