I ended up booking 18/12 Heathrow - JFK, 24/12 return.

Obviously this return isn't ideal since ill arrive 25/12!

I'm travelling premium economy - do people still think there is a chance that more seats will become available? Ideally looking to return 22/12 or 23/12.
