I cannot think of any cool, hip, trendy, boutique hotels in metro-Detroit. But I live here
(on the weekends) and don't need a hotel.

The Townsend Hotel (Birmingham) is terrific & expensive. A very nice
downtown area with plenty of restaurant and shopping options.

The Henry (Dearborn) used to be the Ritz Carlton. Despite the change in affiliation,
they are working even harder to maintain their level of service and quality. I was
stunned when they had the best overall "deal" for a 3-day corporate event. I think
the room rate was only $99/nite. Call'm - I am betting they will negotiate.

We've dined there twice (Tria) since the change ... I recommend it. If you are foodies,
call ahead and ask if Tria is doing anything "special" for the auto show.

Of course; since it is in Dearborn, GREAT middle eastern restaurants abound.
Cedarland is my current fav in that end of town. Also consider dessert at
Shatila Bakery. Their home made fruit ice creams are amazing - also their
other sweets.

If you want other restaurants recommendations, just ask. There are some
good restaurants downtown, but they're not in Greektown (any more) ...
and the downtown restaurants are likely to be overrun with auto show
traffic.
