No disagreement from me (and I repeat that Gaucho100K is considerably more informed on these matters). My initial remark was tongue-in-cheek, but also with the notion that, if a bunch of rather hard to predict elements all came together at the same time, maybe, just maybe, an unscheduled landing in an unfamiliar port could, in a newsworthy fashion, lead to a seizure (albeit likely a temporary one...)

The AR flights to US, Europe and Australia are certainly evidence that they are on stable enough footing to fly where they need to in the world without such risks. On the other hand, it was interesting to me that a reputable journal did point out that sending a government plane to collect the crew from Ghana may have been sufficiently risky to merit chartering an AF flight instead. I honestly don't know if sending an AR plane (as opposed to a military plane) would have been an option. It may well be as simple as AR not having enough extra planes to offer such a charter (they don't have that many long-haul birds as it happens, so I am not sure they can send one to Africa for a day without it affecting the rest of their operations).
