Book the return with miles in coach if you can find an acceptable routing. You can always cancel later if a better alternative opens up.

Then, look for round-trip in business or wait for coach fares to drop. Or look at booking both ways with cash and using miles and GPUs to upgrade if space opens up.

The nice thing about 1K is that you can cancel your awards without cost, so take advantage of that.
