Not being as experienced a world traveler as most on this forum, I don't think my experience is typical, but...

I have never found a hotel alarm clock that I couldn't figure out in 60 seconds or less and either use the alarm or turn it off. And if the light is too bright, I usually find the dimmer.

I've also never been in a hotel or motel room that didn't have an extra outlet somewhere for my phone charger, so I've never needed to unplug the clock.

If I did unplug it, I'd plug it back in before I left.
