You could have kept insisting on AC - but if it was truly sold out (did you actually check, or just believed the agent?) - then what are they supposed to do?
You could have explained the situation to the agent, and asked to be booked in B or Y so you still get status bonus miles.
Yes I actually called Air Canada from the airport asking regarding space on AC flights, she confirmed that they were sold out and even asked me why am I calling if I was informed at airport that all flights are full and I should be glad that I got on the LH flight. She also told me that LH caused this delay and this is not Air Canada's problem.
I asked the Lufthansa agent what are my options since I most likely won't get full miles for this IROP LH flight and he told me that I would have to take that up with aeroplan, there is nothing he can do about it.
I believe I tried everything to get on AC flight but had no choice since the flights were sold out, should I have asked to be delayed to next day so I could fulfill their requirements and fly on Air Canada operated flight?
