They also have a no-appointment walk-up service where they take the appointment folks first, then the walk-ups get processed in order. If you go in prepared with ALL paperwork and proof of imminent travel, they tell you to come back to a pickup window in the afternoon. Worked very well for me in LA after I misplaced mine into what turned out later to be a crevice in my car.
