Almost positive you will need to book through Delta to get the double points. Better would have been to put it on an AMEX Premier Rewards Gold (not the delta one) for 3x membership rewards points (on ANY airfare), which transfer 1:1 to Delta miles

That is unless you have the Reserve card and need the spend for your MQM boost.
