I think I can chime in here since I am leaving on my honeymoon on Monday...why not use you AA miles for a CX F redemption to SE Asia/Australia? We are headed to the Maldives on BA F, but initially had it booked with CX...You can try Phuket, Bali etc...You are in a great position since you are in Vancouver to utilize CX..congrats! Your Tahiti idea is sound, but I'd rather use my miles for a more memorable F experience than Air Tahiti...
