If its the quieter, village lifestyle you're looking for, you could consider any of the smaller towns/villages along the Great Western line between London and Reading. Anything along the Thames tends to be pretty nice (albeit expensive!), towns like Marlow, Bourne End, Henley, and Windsor are all worth a look.

Alternatively, Marylebone Station is also close to Edgware Road so you could consider one of the many nice villages in Buckinghamshire and the Chilterns.
