Update. Actually Gazette is closed indefinitely - no ETA from staff.
I'm actually back to the property for the night. The Gazette windows and Gazette entrances are all boarded/papered up. The Platinum/Executive Floor happy hour and breakfasts are on the Mezzanine level bar which I alluded to in my earlier post.
The construction noise is pretty darn loud if you are on the lower levels of the main tower. When I checked in it was painfully loud but since my room is on the top floor (I scored the 2216/2214 suite upgrade - pretty much overkill at over 1,000 sq ft but I'll take it when I can), I could not hear a thing.
I would hazard a guess that if you are staying halfway up or higher the construction will be minimal or non-existent during the day. Otherwise as per bouncingbug's post I would too suggest staying in the other tower (farther walk but still a nice section of the hotel).
