A lounge will sell you a day pass no matter what airline you are flying.

Another poster brought up a good point about where the lounge is physically located in the airport. Many lounges are now after security and some airports terminals do not always communicate behind security, so you need to go out and then re-clear security to get to the lounge. If this is the case, security may only allow a person with a plane ticket leaving from that terminal into those terminals. A day pass to the lounge may get you a security pass but it might be a hassle.

If you have access via an airline status, it depends on the airline. Most airlines give lounge access by the class of service you are flying with them that day. if you are flying business or first class internationally, then that airline will give you lounge access for those travel days.

I know some AMX cards have a free membership to Priority Pass. You still pay for the lounge access but it is discounted.

If you are going to pay for a day pass do your research. Some lounges are much better than others. some have free food and wifi, some don't. Some are just a quieter place to sit and some have free showers and drinks. They vary greatly so do your homework before spending the $50 or so dollars for a few hours in an iffy club.
