Let's say I have an AA ticket - can I go buy a day pass for another airline? Or do they require you to be flying that airline?

What about if you have lounge access due to status - If I am an AA elite member, or a United CC holder (which gives lounge access) - do I need to be flying on THAT airline that day?

thanks!
Generally, if the airline you're flying with is in the same alliance (OW, SA, etc) as the one you have status with you can use either lounge (or perhap any of the lounges in that alliance?). Some places have pay lounges but I don't think they're connected with a specific airline. Could be wrong on that bit, though.

I'm QF Plat, so I tend to use the QF First lounge in MEL or SYD as long as I'm flying another one of their partners (CX, for example).
