I used the 20,000 miles for an virgin upper class upgrade heathrow to LAX. Amazing and well worth it if you spend can spend £2k on an amex in three months...once the points are credited the transfer to virgin is instant,

if you are referred by existing amex gold card member you receive an additional 2000 miles and c 4000 miles for the £2k you spend during that period. so enough miles for an upgrade from economy to upper class on most of the network.just cancel the card before the 12 months to avoid the £125 annual charge. YOu also earn 2 points for every £1 spend in the first year. 1000 minimum transfers.

- tesco clubcard. auto enrol and you recieve 1000 bonus miles and an additional 2.5x clubcard points each quarter (see website).
- refer someone to the amex gold card and you recieve 12000 miles on approval once you are signed up.
