Tried to purchase some Johnnie Walker Platinum at PVG yesterday and when they looked at my boarding pass (UA), they said they could not sell it to me as I was limited to 100ml max and the bottle was 750ml.

I also agree that if I had purchased it and had it in my bag, they would not have seen it as the casual check they did of my carry on luggage was a joke (I did however voluntarily throw out the two bottles for water from the club).
