There is also the potential for it being completely pointless, like when you end up with a vehicle that has far superior on-board GPS built in, and then they shove a tacky neverlost system in it to charge you.

Also, sometimes you have to make sure they aren't adding the neverlost charge for you if you take a car that has it. This has happened to me before where I did not request it, and they tried to add it to the bill.
