Hello experts, I am booking a one-way F award from Japan to USA using AA miles. The particular segments are FUK-HND/NRT-LAX-SJC. FUK-HND/NRT-LAX are booked on JAL metals and LAX-SJC is booked on a AA metal.

I received an email from AA stating that FUK-TYO(HND) segment cannot be booked in JAL domestic first due to a contract agreement between AA and JAL even if my award is for FC. If I really wanted to sit in a domestic FC for FUK-HND segment, I would have to redeem additional 12500 miles.

Is there such a rule? Has anyone experienced this before? If there is a way around it so that I could get a domestic FC ticket (FUK-HND) included on my one-way award, please let me know.
