We woke up ... at 8:45 am ... to the sound of gentle rain, INDOORS. Water was dripping from the ceiling and walls and into the bathroom and bedroom. I placed trashcans under the largest drips so as to catch most of the water.
I picked up the phone and dialed "Guest Request". The lady just flat did not seem alarmed about the half-inch of water on the bathroom floor nor the sopping wet carpet. She said she'd send an engineer "to look at it".
20 minutes later, wife insisted I call back to say that it was probably due to a leak in the room above ours. (DUH!). But wife insisted, so I called. The lady who answered seemed surprised that we had a water leak (like she had never heard of such a thing). She promised to get an engineer to "look at it" right away.
We went to breakfast. The Regency Club attendant asked how things were going, so we told her about the indoor rain. She immediately made a phone call then assured us that the Front Desk Manager is personally handling this unfortunate incident.
After breakfast we took a little walk on the grounds then returned to our room. There had been NO action of any kind. Water was still dripping from the walls and ceiling. Nobody had been into the room to check it out. I phoned again (it's phone call #4 for those keeping track). The lady said she'd report it and that they'd send someone "to look at it".
I had to get ready for work. I took a shower in the bathroom despite the water all over the floor. I slogged across wet carpet and got dressed for work. Then the phone rang. It's now more than two hours after I first reported the problem. The lady offered to move us to another room. I told her that I did not have enough time for that, as I had to leave for work in a few minutes. She said they'd get someone in there immediately to "look at it" while I was gone.
My wife didn't feel like staying in a sopping wet room, so she went to work with me. When we got back (late at night), the carpet is still damp and there are a bunch of wet towels on the bathroom floor.
I think I'll look for a drier place to stay, the next time I'm in the area. Water all over everything is bad. The fact that nobody seems to care is FAR worse. We had another issue at checkin (which pales in comparison to the indoor rain problem), but overall I'm just not a fan of this property. It's fair to say that I expected better. I had used a Diamond Suite upgrade and I feel ripped off. I'd much rather stay in a small dry room than a big wet one.
Some of us don't have the patience you have. In a case like this I give the engineer 5 minutes to get there before calling back. Then it's another 5 minutes max. and I ask for the assistant rooms manager. It always works.
The property should have offered to move you to another suite immediately after your second call. In your case compensation from this hotel would be in order.
