And not a smart one at that, since the sun's position in the sky is pretty well known - based on the direction of travel and time of day, it is actually possible to pick a seat on the shady side of the plane on most flights.
Why bring intelligence into this?

If you want to
reliably peer out the window then you should be in a window seat. Failing that you're at the mercy of the pax sitting there.
You can always ask them to open it/close it but, IMO, that decision resides in them alone.
