This is SOP for most of us, I think. I would much rather use a wired system where I can have a firewall than just an open wireless. I can use all of my wireless devices from the one router.

There is nothing dodgy, immoral, or illegal about it. I have been doing it for years. If the system is free anyway, sharing should not be a problem although the range of your router will only be maybe adjoining rooms only.
