Ask the Flight Attendants if this is OK first.
Frequently, people in First will have personal items out until boarding is over and will need to stow those items overhead.
That's usually the best thing to do.
I always usually put my roller carry on in the bin first and keep my briefcase to get whatever I need for the flight and hate it when guy sitting in 35D puts his 3 bags and posters in the F class bin. Had a guy sitting in E- put a whiteboard (yea not kidding) in the overhead in F on my flight yesterday and suprisingly it did fit.
