Checked-through baggage on NON-Single ticket
Hi Guys,
I will be departing for the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign from Singapore on 8 Jan 2013 for my undergraduate studies.
I'm booked on 2 separate flights, SIN-SFO, SFO-ORD due to miles limitations:
Singapore Airlines SQ2 (Business)
Depart:
8 Jan 2013
17:50 PM
Changi Intl
Arrive:
8 Jan 2013
19:45 PM
San Francisco Intl
Number of stops: 1 (Hong Kong) [EDIT]
Flying time
17hrs 55mins
Layover time
1hrs 55mins
United Airlines UA995 (Coach)
Depart:
8 Jan 2013
23:11 PM
San Francisco Intl
Arrive
9 Jan 2013 [EDIT]
05:15 AM
Chicago O'Hare Intl
Direct
Flying time
04hrs 04mins
My question is if my baggage can be check-through from SQ2 to UA995 despite me not being on a single ticket?
SQ and UA are Star Alliance members, so I was hoping that this could be done. SQ customer service said that it might be possible but I have to check directly with the check-in counter before my flight; they can't promise anything.
Wonder if anyone else has done something similar and could share their experiences.
Thanks!
