It actually gets you more benefits when flying LH and using German airports since there are only two elite tiers (well HON is beyond elite status) in LH's program, Frequent Traveler (STARSilver) and Senator (STARGold). However, this means that you can check in at the Business Class check-ins at FRA, MUC, DUS and other German airports. Unfortunately, unlike LH's own STARSilver, doesn't get you into the LH Business Class lounges. However, as a STARSilver one year I did get an OpUp on LH to C on JNB-FRA. There are actually more likely to be more LH STARGolds than STARSilvers, so STARSilvers from other programs can find themselves in a good position on LH flights.
