Here's another option: use SuperShuttle at FLL either the night before or the morning of the cruise. A relative of mine uses it regularly when she cruises out of Miami as a single passenger; rentals are probably cheaper for 2 or more.
I don't know whether hotels are cheaper in the FLL area vs. MIA, but I suspect FLL will win out.
